30 September Deadline Looms for Temvelo Awards 2026 Applications

From grassroots initiatives to green innovation, the awards aim to bring Eswatini’s environmental changemakers and their work into the national spotlight.

MBABANE- Members of the public have until September 30, 2026 to submit applications and nominations for the Temvelo Awards 2026, as environmental champions across Eswatini are encouraged to put their work forward for national recognition.

Eswatini Environment Authority Information Officer Zandisile Howe confirmed the closing date, encouraging individuals, communities and institutions undertaking meaningful environmental work to apply before the deadline.

The Temvelo Awards recognise contributions by individuals, communities, educational institutions, businesses, government entities and organisations working towards environmental conservation and sustainable development in Eswatini.

This year’s awards are held under the theme “From Science to Action: Turning Knowledge into Change, Honouring Those Who Bridge Discovery & Impact.” During the official launch, Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane encouraged emaSwati not to overlook environmental initiatives simply because they are small or community-based.

“Do not underestimate your work. Do not assume your project is too local to deserve recognition. Local action is where national transformation begins,” she said.
